#2 Born In New Jersey

we are blue number nine

Rain Dance…

Undaunted by the month-long soaking of the NYC metro area, Blue Number Nine did a fair amount of playing out in June in their own backyard. Literally. Rain washed out one date and the venue cancelled another, leaving extra jam time. Fueled by good food (thanks, Marco!), a stocked beer cooler, and inspired by a mischievous muse, BN9 composed a new tune while cooking out behind Jersey City’s Concussion Studios. Minoru played guitar and lent his voice to Stefanie’s and Paul’s on “Born In New Jersey.” Marco wouldn’t play the game, but Jack played like a pro – oh – oh (blame Paul for the lyrics). Click it and crank it!

This edition of BN9 Time takes you to Wicked Willy’s on Bleecker St. in the city where Stefanie Seskin & Co. rocked a responsive house in spite of Yankees-Mets on the tube. Lots of fan interviews here. One admits having a wicked crush on Stefanie. Get in line, pal!

Morgan Rose Fite has been singing backup with Blue Number Nine for nearly four years. She shares her favorite BN9 tunes, and her system for organizing the band’s song book. There’s a nice profile of Minoru Kikuchi. And we hear the origin of ‘Turnpikes & Parkways,’ one of more than 50 original songs written by this multi-talented band.

See you in July!

  1. Great podcast! I love the mix between live, behind-the-scenes banter, rehearsals, studio recordings. Keep them coming : )
